Bremerton Wines: A Family-Owned Business

There are many families who purchased a piece of land and turned them into vineyards. A wise choice, some would say. Today, we are going to tell you about one such family that bought 40 ha of land, planted vines, nourished them, survived a flood and is now exporting its wines worldwide. This is not all, the winery has also been rated 5-star winery by critics for the last 11 years.

Located in Langhorne Creek, South Australia, Bremerton Wines is a family-owned business that was established in 1988. It is operated by the Wilson family, mainly by—Rebecca and Lucy. They are known as the Wilson sisters. Together, they have taken the brand to the next level with their consistent hard work and passion.

The Wilson Sisters
An article was published in the Wine Business Magazine(WBM) in 2015 that talked about the Wilson sisters, Rebecca and Lucy. Rebecca is a very emotional person and is constantly worrying herself about others. She thinks a lot and is very quick in responding which is what she is trying to control. Lucy is more practical and they both have their families. They love each other and are most of the time on the same page. With their strengths combined, they have amassed huge success since the brand was established. We should know about their winemaking process like every other brand, the family is focussed on making wines with premium quality fruit.

Grapes & Winemaking
Rebecca heads the winemaking process and has set new standards in terms of quality. She seeks the best fruit from their vineyards and full-bodied wines are crafted which are full of flavours. The family has invested heavily in French & American oak to get the oak characters in their wine. The winery also has stainless steel open fermenters and a barrel cellar, built for maturation.

Wines & Awards
Eventually, the efforts of both the Wilson sisters bore fruit, garnering many awards both at national and international levels. Their wines have won every award from Gold to Silver to Bronze in shows such as—International Wine Challenge, Langhorne Creek Wine Show, Perth Royal Wine Show and Royal Hobart International Wine Show.

They have a cellar door where you can taste their wines, enjoy the picturesque view and indulge in their regionally inspired food. It is open seven days a week, you can go with your friends or family. That is not all, if you like going to wine & food festivals then you can book your calendar for the Cellar Door Festival at the Adelaide Convention Centre. The festival brings South Australia’s best wine and food in one place and it is a 3-day festival.  You can savour amazing wine and lip-smacking food, attend master classes and have fun. The Bremerton wines will also be showcasing its wines at the festival.  It will be worth it!
