Alex Russell Wines are crafted by an award-winning winemaker Alex Russell who owns the company and takes care of the work on fields as well. He holds an experience of about 15 years in the industry and is presently known for producing premium quality commercial wines. The winery is engaged in small batches of winemaking and the company’s cellars are located in Renmark of South Australia. A motive to create best quality wines has resulted in production of a diverse range of varietals which include Tempranillo, Saperavi, Montepulciano, Lagrein, Moscato, Graciano, Tempranillo, Durif and Sauvignon.
Situated in the famous Riverland region of South Australia, Alex Russell wines have won various awards over the years. Some of the recent award-winning wines (at Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show) are listed below:
Known for its cool climate and alternative varietal wines, Alex Russell wines have won various awards apart from the ones listed above. Over the years, the company has expanded and diversified into three brands - ‘Alejandro’, ‘Cazadora’ and ‘Son of a Bull’.
The Alejandro range of wines showcase alternative varieties of Spanish, Italian and Iberian origin including some very rarely grown in the region. Alejandro is a Spanish name which means ‘the man who repels enemies’. Appropriate to its name, the range goes against all conventions with its lesser known wine styles. Later, in order to expand in Tasmania, Alex introduced another brand named Cazadora. This label represents high end wine styles from Tasmania. It features family estate grown grapes located in the Pipers River Region of North Launceston. The Son of Bull is another brand under the Alex Russell wines showcases premium varieties in Tasmania. This label features fresh wines to be enjoyed young without cellaring.
