Everything you Need to Know About Cape Jaffa Wines

Cape Jaffa Wines is a family-owned and operated business run by the Cooper family. Derek and Allen Cooper chose a unique and isolated place to establish their estate. Located in Mount Benson of South Australia, the region is characterised by a red loamy soil, cool summers and free-draining limestone. The coral remains from long forgotten ocean now replaced by a sea add to the uniqueness of the place. Owing to the erratic weather conditions, the winemakers decided to break the conventions and rather pave their own path wherein they could exercise the craft freely.

In 1995, the tasting bar and cellar door was constructed along with an underground barrel hall. The area is built with a combination of free stone and pre loved timber. Unlike the formal wine tasting cellar doors, this place has an informal, home-like touch. It is built in such a way that the visitors would enjoy their wines and the relaxing experience.

Along with the beauty of the region and the limestone coast, the winery is built upon the passion of the two winemakers- Derek and Allen. They are known for their impressively balanced and harmonized wines which are very easy-to drink. Over the years, the team of winemakers worked hard to craft an exclusive collection which showcases Red, White, Sparkling, Skin Contact and Biodynamic wines. Both the varietal and blends portray the team’s passion for wines.

This lesser known region which is far-removed from the very popular wine regions of Australia, is something over which the winemakers take pride. Unlike the manipulative viticulturists, this winery is led by simple, unique, unpretentious and biodynamic ways which reflect in the Cape Jaffa wines. Following the modern techniques of wine making, they also believe in sustainability and conservation as a result of their love for the place.

With a diverse portfolio, each range of wines has a meaning to it. The ‘La Lune and En Soleil’ range reflect their unique vineyard; the second ‘Wine about Style’ range reflects the ideology of the team which embraces innovative wine styles and idea; and the latest ‘Winemaking on the Edge’ includes very creative and experimental blends.
