But at the same time, you can always find brands which have been in wine-making business for years and have been striving hard to maintain their quality and unique styles despite of the commercial constraints. Here we are going to talk about the Pizzini Wines who are known throughout for their premium quality and Italian style wines unique in that region.
The Pizzini Wines founded by Alfredo Pizzini and his wife Katrina Pizzini is situated in the picturesque King Valley, Victoria. The vineyard is spread over 170 acres wherein one can find very exclusive and wide range of wines. Having their roots in Italy, the family-run business is known for its unique Italian wine varieties.
History
Inspired by the Brown Brothers of Milawa who were expanding their winemaking business at that time, Alfredo Pizzini decided to venture into establishing his own vineyard. In 1978, Alfredo with his nephew Rinaldo started by planting Riesling wine in 30 acres. Over the years, their passion for wines increased and Alfredo along with wife Katrina Pizzini planted various other wines like Shiraz, Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and also carried out experiments by planting two Italian grape varieties, Nebbiolo and Sangiovese together which he sold to winemaking companies.
Later in the 1990’s, Alfredo began experimenting with Italian white wines- Verduzzo, Arneis, and Picolit. Finally, in 1994, Alfredo and his wife Katrina started their own wine label, the Pizzini Wines with Chardonnay wine.
Present day
At present, the winemaking is taken care by their son Joel Pizzini. They have also ventured into hospitality business which are taken care of by the family. The father with his son Joel works together intensely to produce the best wines. They have around 15 varieties of grapes growing in their vineyards. Earlier, the Kings Valley was not so known for winemaking as it is now for its range of Italian wines introduced by the Pizzini family. They have worked hard to produce extraordinary fruit quality. Their passion reflects in these exceptionally wonderful wines.
