All you need to know about the Larry Cherubino Wines

The Larry Cherubino Wines owned by Houghton and his wife Edwina saw its humble beginnings in one of their spare rooms and since then it has now become a milestone in the wine making industry. Houghton believes that more than the wine making process, the taste of the wine depends on how the grape is been grown. In 2017, the Larry Cherubino Wines received the highest honour, Halliday’s Best Value Winery Award for its outstanding and value for money range of wines.

History
Houghton, being a first generation Australian developed his interests in winemaking at a younger age while seeing his family making wine in the backyard. He studied horticulture and later worked as a winemaker and travel consultant. He met Edwina during this phase. As a part of his job, he worked upon the vineyards and wineries, and also got opportunities to travel around the world. He went to New Zealand, U.S.A., France, Italy and South Africa where his knowledge of wines got enhanced.

In 2004, he and his wife Edwina purchased their first land parcel in Frankland River where they wanted to plant their own vineyard. A few years later, they decided to buy a neighbouring vineyard, and acres of vineyard country and prime river. They knew that the land has high potential and will be very beneficial for growing grapes.

It was in 2005, that the label saw its humble beginnings in a spare room. They have travelled a long way since then with a great range of fine wines being produced under their label.

Present Day
At present, the Larry Cherubino Estate covers acres of land having different geographical and climatic conditions. The vineyards cover some of the famous wine growing regions namely Frankland River, Pemberton, Margaret River and Porongurup. Here they grow a wide variety of grapes including both white and red varietals.

He believes that great wines require great grapes. Thus, for him growing grapes require a lot of hard work which also reflects in his range of wines. His wines reflect the characters of the fruit, the terroir and his hard work.
